Brambilla has this if the break goes. He could've had a top-10 without even going into the break. I'm saying a win by about 20-30 seconds, like Formolo last year or someone from GC (including Ulissi even if I don't think he is a GC rider)

Rojas not targetting stage wins in this Giro. He is Movistar road captain. Stays with Valverde as far as is possible.
Ahhh, excellent information. Thanks indeed.
Oooooooooooooo

My $45 on Rojas at 200-1 looking rather good now.

God I love cycling.
Who you bet with?

I had Brambilla in my betslip, put talked myself out of it because he was too close on GC, will be wounded if he wins.
Well, we share a dislike of Brambilla then, for today anyway! Now I can't stop thinking about how absurdly strong he was at Strade Bianche.

I bet mainly with Bet 365. They didn't have Rojas listed until I asked, so very happy with 200-1.

Alpecin just letting Brambilla have pink?

Probably just the stage. I think the gap will be 2'30 or something like that at the bottom of the climb so Giant will save pink.

Possible; they have such a weak team that not having the Maglia Rosa may be a blessing. Although, as Laplaz said, they will probably get it back tomorrow.

Let's hope the win isn't gifted (ie the break doesn't win)

I can see it now. Wellins has multiple minutes in hand at the bottom of Arcalis at this years first MTF at the Tour, and just holds on to win. Meanwhile, the Dawg puts his GC rivals to the sword, AX3/PSM style, putting himself in command of the yellow jersey. On the forum Froome's performance is largely ignored whereas much plaudits are given for the breakaway victory. Serious Sam struggles to bite his tongue....

It shall be like Lance on Hautacam 2000.

SS, do you also subscribe to Lance's phrase; "No gifts"? :D

You describe a most horrific hypothetical.

Yes. Lance has imparted great wisdom on many occasions, this being one of them

What SS would need most there would be a Jalabert-Dietz moment. All the plaudits of course went to Bert Dietz

Just watched the finale, looks like Jalabert backed off at the line, painful to witness. Had he taken the victory that was rightfully his by strength, the harsh but important life lesson would have propelled Dietz to greater heights. Or caused irreparable bitterness. Either way, victories that do not inflict defeat upon the opponents against their will have diminished value

I wonder if Trentin is in the break just to pull Brambilla along or if he wants to save himself a bit. The uphill finish probably suits him fine although the KOM might be too hard for him.

Trentin and Wellens winning in the same GT would be pretty awsome :)

How is Brambilla's tt'ing? How much time would he need to hold it after the tt?

Two years ago he was 5th in Giro ITT, last year Vuelta he lost 3mins to Dumoulin.

His tt'ing is average at best (this year Pais Vasco TT seems like an exception from this mediocrity). He would need a lot of time to not lose it tomorrow to Dumoulin. Not possible in my opinion.

He's average at best and even if he had the pink he would lose it by minutes by the end of the day

So it seems like Trentin is a fan of "The Departed". I knew I liked him, one more reason to cheer him on :D
