Tom is defenitly past his best years, won't disagree with you. But I think Tom still can win Roubaix, Tour of Flandres is gonna be tricky tho. Anyways I'll wait and see like I do every year. Oh and think Zoetemelk became WC when he was 38 Boonen is still 35 :p . We have a saying here, An old fox never forgets his tricks. Which basically means don't write somebody off because he's over his prime.

Stannard would have beaten them all... shame

Meh, in this scenario I doubt he would've been faster then GVA, he was so strong.

The only way either Rowe or Stannard could have won, in hindsight, is if they were both in the group, allowing the other to save their energy and do the team pursuit final 3-4km attack. So I doubt Stannard could have won. He did out"sprint" GVA in 2014, but it was a sprint of death in bad weather and so on. Stannard started the sprint way too early, and had just enough diesel to hold off GVA's late charge and win by a very narrow margin.

Looks like familiar old problems for Sagan in the classics. Unlike Kristoff, Degenkolb or GVA, he just can't produce his best sprint after working hard during a race.
I'd say Sagan rode untactically, did too much work hence he couldnt produce good spurt. Too much self confidence or stupidity, od both, or something else?

What a post from a fan of another Tinkoff rider.

Self confidence or stupidity or both? WTF

Man, this is just first race after hard training camp. He is just testing himself. What and excellent test BTW.

I am pretty glad he has not won today. He showed others that he is beatable and that it can pay off the cooperation with him in break.
WelI I didn't mean to anger you :) Ok if he really didn't want to win you are right. Everybody was testing themselves, aren't they? Everybody is after some training camp... I just don't get what is that "what a post of another Tinkoff" rider suppose to mean.

It is not first time you speak very negativ about Sagan. Sometimes it just looks like you cannot stand that Slovakia can have the better rider then Czechia. I have never ever spoken and never will about Roman or Styby or Vakoc the way you spoke about Peter last year.

Let me point out how disgusted I was by Rowe's behaviour with Alexis. He started bullying him into taking turns, even though the young rider had spent most on the day in the breakaway and was almost dropped on the Lange Mute.
French TV commentators had a field day with this, and it led to a 5 min (fully justified, imo) rant against Sky.
They are the richest, most successful team in World Tour, and, once again, they feel to need to boss around other riders, just because they believe they are untitled to something.
I am really sick of this bunch, especially that now they are starting to pollute classic races as well.

That was still before his crash in Abu Dhabi, which was (or so I'm thinking) the straw that broke the camel's back.

He finished fourth after Groenewegen and Bouhanni in Valencia, if Groenewegen didn't close him in he would've been very close.

He knew that they everyone to do some work and I don't blame Rowe for if you are going to stay in the group then give us a turn.

Wtf? Rowe was in his rights to ask Gougeard to work, and Gougeard had the right to say no. Gougeard worked to preserve his 5th place, because he was obviously the weakest rider in the group at that point, and if he hadn't worked, he would be some way down the peloton instead of placing top 5 in a big semi-classic.

Stop trying to use some *** reason to hate on sky, there are plenty of other (legitimate) reasons if you really want to do it
(ps I love how 'bs' changes to poop :D )

This ^^^

Rowe was probably scared Gougeard would 'steal' his 4th place if he was able to recover a bit.

Rowe asking gougeard to work was mostly Rowe trying to find a way to do less work. It's all acting so he could stay in the last wheel longer. There have been plenty of riders who did that during plenty of races in the past. Classless? Yes! It's all part of the cycling tricks and tips.

You can add " i hate sky " theories to it, but Gougeard can ignore Rowe as well and just don't let your hate flow to strong. Unneccesary.

Someone wants negative attention...

There is only 1 real anti-Sky post while others only condemn Rowe for him telling Goegeard to work which is understandable. Don't make a drama of it when it's not a drama....yet..., but you can make one by posting stuff like this.

Besides.... Sky is the richest and best team and the richest and best teams usually get most haters as well. Not fair maybe, but that's just generally what happens on planet earth.

I still believe in Tommeke!
Moscon finished 23th with the same time as all the guys who sprinted for the 6th place, ok it wasn't the hardest race ever, but for a neopro it's still a good result.
It was the 2nd time that he raced on cobbels, he finished 2nd in the 2015 Ronde van Vlaanderen Beloften (outsprinted by Alexander Edmondson).
It was a fun race to watch, the cobbled classics (The real ones, not KBK an S***********) really have an unique feeling, watching them is always a pleasure.

Being very close in a flat stage isn't something that would stand out on Boonen's palmares.

Totally disagree with your point of view here. Regardless of the team, Rowe's move was tactically pretty spot on. Alexis was in the break the entire day and could have refused to work. No one would have thought lesser of him. Rowe coaxed him to work and the break stayed away. If he didn't work, they might have been caught. If anyone should get the blame for Gougeard misstep, it's his DS.

Nice Win by GVA - dude gets second so often it's nice he was able to deliver big early in the season.

Mandatory pulls? Is that how they roll at SKY?

So how many pulls did Stannard take last year before he made his winning move?

... You don't have to answer, we all already know your response ... "It was different situation"

... what a hypocrite ...

Maybe he doesn't like Sagan, not the first nor the last one, who cares? If he's talking trash, others will recognize, no need to heat it up.
As to Sagan's performance, his lack of sprint power after long races is already a proven fact, nothing new. In fact he looks much much better then last two early springs. Very promissing today.

Oh grow up. This type of thing happens all the time. If the rider agrees to work then that's his fault and it's not as if Rowe is one of the big classics guys who would make a young rider feel intimidated.
