Break:

Debusschere
Ligthart
Sergent
Van Asbroeck
Mrozek
Stacchiotti

Debusschere obviously most intresting name. Has a teammate aswell. He's also a true hardman that excels in bad weather.

Also Dall'Antonia (Gio) and Rota (Bardiani)

Looks like only a little bit of rain during the race and heavy shower later in the afternoon.

Armitstead, Johansson and Niewiadoma are off the front in the womens race, not long to go

Not a bad break. Lotto means business today.

Very interesting comments from Nibali today. Posted on their live commentary feed, but here it is:
“It’s rained in the last few days at home and so I haven’t done a lot of training, I’ve just tried to hold onto my form from the Tour of Oman. This is my first race in Europe and so it’s a change of climate. We’ll see how my legs feel in the race,” he said at the start.

“This race is different to anything else, even to the stage of the Tour de France I won on the pave. This is a one-day race and the riders that are here are also very different. I’m here because it’s a fascinating race on beautiful roads. I hope my legs are good in the finale but today Jakob Fuglsang will do the race for us. We’ll work around him to help him.”

Fuglsang winning would be awesome and a nice change from the tendency with many high finishes and few wins, I think.

Wait when did he win a stage at the Tour on the pavè? I imagine that was lost in translation.

It is a race perfectly suited for Jakob, perhaps even more if it had been longer (+220k). He will do a good race, I'm sure. Nibali is probably just playing mind games when he says that Jakob is the leader.

Well, Birdsong will have to work for Nibs next week in TA which is a target for Lo Squalo so it's sensible to think he is offered a chance to shine today.

Armistead wins the women's race. The form she's in, she should hang around for the men and take the double

I agree, moreover they make a good team so I'm pretty sure if the two of them get into a decisive break then they will work together to drop others rather than one rider just protecting the other.

It's just that I find it unlikely to see Fuglsang win, but it indeed would be nice for him.
