This pisses me off so much. Those teams that add nothing to the spectacle but only try to stop it (ettix, katusha...).

What the *** is katusha doing in this race?

Movistar are so so lucky that Ettix, Katusha and Lotto missed that group by metres other wise it would be a minute!

It's a lot of energy to waste on the day before the Ventoux.
vmt. If it was just Quintana and Movistar chasing it would have been a great move. But against a peloton full of sprint trains, I'm not sure whether it has been worth it to gain a handful of seconds, if that.

Le tour kicks off in the most unexpected places. This is just great. And Froome continues to demand respect.

Is there anything Froome can't do

His power is immense

I doubt that his climbing is at the same level as in 2013.
This. He hasn't looked anywhere near 2013 levels in the mtns so far, so he has taken it to the race in other ways. It's impressive stuff.

So he's been stronger than he's ever been in the Tour in every way, and in the mountains he's not even been close to cracking, and the only real mountain stage there's been was such horrendous weather that he wasn't able to show what he could do.

What is it about that which makes people think he's not as good as he was in the past?

I'm not saying I'm sure he's better, or as good, because we haven't seen him tested yet, that will happen tomorrow. But there's zero indication he's not on the best form of his life.

In every Tour so far in the first MTF of Tour he blew competition, last year by more than 1min.

Compared to this year, how is being stronger? Just because he's more active, doesn't mean he's stronger.

Ehh what? So they should just give up trying to win the stage because Froome is ahead, or what are you saying? Etixx have the best sprinter in the peloton now that Cav is gone.

Quintana showing superb tactical awareness like always!!!!!!

Honestly this time I'm not so sure it's tactical awareness. Quintana is not even close to the top 20 or so on the flat, and he might struggle to be top 100 on a course like this. The simple fact is, on a day like today Quintana isn't strong enough to stay with Froome.

That being said his team is disappointing, they brought a couple of specialists for the flat work, and they're nowhere to be seen. Not to mention Valverde should be able to be there right now.

It's not like he tried but couldn't follow, he wasn't even in a position to try.

Very true, that's not exactly a good sign though. Quintana is an incredibly climber, arguably the best in the world right now. But he simply doesn't have the body for the rest of the tour, so there's always a risk of him losing more time than he can make up in the mountains. Especially considering there's still a Time Trial coming up.

Can't Sky at least try to disrupt the chase a bit? Where are the rest of their team?

Seriously, If you watch closely, Quintana is always eating the wind as he's out of position and does not know how to ride a bike, Froome is not putting a huge effort compared to what Quintana is doing

Froome is going to go down as a legend of this Sport!
If he isn't fully respected in Britain he will be around the world!
