One has to admit that the sight of Froome running around in cycle shoes on the middle of the road was a tragically funny picture :)

You're right and I'm supporting Froome for this race... it was funny in an astonishing wtf am I watching sort of way.

Its great to see Robofroome completely error404 when something out of the ordinary happens. What was the point of running away from your team car again?
haha so true

Lol, good point. Car would be stuck

he should actually run BACK!

but he had his earpiece probably off (was labouring with it whiile running), so no remote control, and nobody to press reset button to clear the error... clearly, exception handling programmers in SKY didnot expect such a possibility

Froome is lying about his bike being stolen. He clearly left it down on the road on his own accord

Stolen? He's claiming stolen?

Maybe he's still a little emotional about the whole thing, but he needs to walk that back when he cools off.
Maybe he's saying it's stolen now.
Even bigger controversy looming?
He left it leaned on a photo moto.

Hoping that they somehow reset the times. It's only fair.
Also in the latin american ESPN commentary they're talking about Froome possibly getting DQ'd for running without his bike. Could see Sky outright boycotting ASO if it happened.

Relax captain Sky. Froome will take that minute back with ease. Your podium was set. Froome, Porte, Yates.

Another week to go.
Hilarious. Podium "set"? Yates, who's never been tested over 3 weeks is a given over Mollema, Aru, Quintana, and the like? NOt saying he couldn't do it but "podium set" is laughable.
Don't take it seriously, he's just trying to provoke a reaction. He's made the same post 4 times now.

Unfurtunate but this is cycling, Contador crashed and got ill without that they would all be fighting for 2 and 3 place anyway. Sometimes cycling can be cruel like that so obvious results should stand. Its better to loose a 1.30 min on something like this rather than getting so injured your forced to abandon.

This is NOT cycling. STOP pretending this is within the realm of what's considered normal in the sport. A drunkard causing this crap has as much to do with cycling as a sniper in the stands of a stadium shooting players has got to do with football.
Ale-***-luia! Anyone trying to find excuses for these animals, wishing bad luck to Froome after his performances and so on shouldn't have a place to voice their opinions.

Oh dear.. Now we're onto snipers? I'm thinking this is probably the first time you've seen an incident like this. It happens. It's part of the character of the event.

I'd also like to point out the alternative which is the Giro and many Kms of barriers. Which, is boring. Or Tour de Suisse, nobody watching.

cf: we crashed and my chain came off
car: put the ****ing thing back on
cf: what?

Just seen it again; Froome really did panic. While Porte was there patiently adjusting his chain and derailleur, Froome was running up the road. Perhaps he should go on a mechanics course.

So two fans involved in changing outcome of race. You simply can't have one fan causing a crash and then another fan stealing the very bike you were just racing on. Tour de France organisers will be the laughing stock on every news channel tonight otherwise.

Froome's bike wasn't stolen. Froome first ran with it, then dumped it against a motorbike. The video footage has been posted in this thread.

......................

It was stolen after..... so because he placed it against motorbike it couldnt be stolen?

It has nothing to do with Froome not being able to ride, but he just stated a fact.

A small part of me is hoping the result stands, and Froome just destroys everyone tomorrow and ends up winning the tour by 3-5 minutes.

Just to show that he is by far the best this tour (at least after Contador crashed) and that the ASO are incompetent.

No bad will meant to anyone, but let's just hope that the ASO finally learn from this and start to put real controls in place on these MTF's.

I'm not sure how many Giros you watch, but RCS is very good about lining MTFs with barriers. It's boring on television. An absolute snooze if you line the climb with barriers. People just sit in the shade behind the barrier and golf clap.

Cycling's not football. I honestly don't give a toss if the 'atmosphere' isn't great, or if people are applauding rather than drunkenly stumbling alongside the riders. I don't find that exciting, I find it pathetic. I give a toss that riders don't get impaired, seriously injured, or eventually killed. If that takes a few golf claps, that's a price I'm more than prepared to pay, and it's a price every race organiser should be prepared to pay if they're at all responsible.

I wonder if Quintana will be quoted saying the ASO don't care about the riders, and that they're a disgrace, and that the riders are risking their lives every day - and that the stage should be neutralised...?

Possibly as any other change to finishing result would be a disadvantage for him.

Problem is you'd either have to neutralize all times at the moment of the crash, or not neutralize at all, because all the GC guys got held up to varying degrees in that area, and so if you only neutralize some times, some riders are getting the short end of the stick. Just giving Froome and Porte Mollema's time would be unfair to every other rider behind them, who got held up, while Mollema looked like he got going pretty quickly, meaning Mollema probably gained more time on the others than he would have otherwise.

I guess it was stolen after that. Why would he lie about a busted bike being stolen ?

Neutralise everyone's time at the moment of the crash.

The TDF kicked a rider out of the race last year for getting in a car for 50m. Froome should be penalized

Yup, that would worry me if I were Sky. I believe physically Froome is the best GT rider right now, possibly the best there has been for quite a while. But mentally he's simply not up there with the likes of Contador and Indurain.

How would he know? He wasn't even near the bike after that.
