With Dumoulin possibly below his best in Rio, all the stars are aligning for Froome's Golden Double attempt. Tour - Gold - Vuelta

That will make his Marketing People so happy. Wiggins only suddenly became a household name in the UK when he won the Olympic Gold over an out-of-sorts Martin and some other guy whose name I can't remember - bland wishy-washy character, nope, still can't remember.

Runs up mountains. Punches Fans. Descends like a nutter, gold in the Olympics, eats baby rabbits...... all the makings of that most tiresome creature, the 'British Institution'.

Must be why ITV is showing adverts ...

They haven't realised with the lack of attacking this race the descents are more interesting than the climbs.

Rolland is down badly.

so perhaps no french stage win again .... Bardet tomorrow maybe, but unlikely ...

Doubt he had any chance anyway. The gap to the favourites is quite small. I'm thinking Astana wants the victory today, or at least challenge for it. So my bet is the best of the GC riders, unless that's Froome and he gifts the stage.

Rolland looks to have got off very lightly thankfully.

Still demoralized, though. ;( Bummed he's effectively out of the running today.

Of course, but it could have been a lot worse so we can be glad for that.

Tony Gallopin FTW!

I would hope so - a whole TDF without a French stage or Jersey Winner?? If I was French I would think about telling ASO to run it someplace else next time.
