Why did Aru start the Tour so badly/////couldahve podiumed alongwith Porte ...maybe yet ???

He didn't really start that badly, he just lost 3'22" to Froome in the TT. Add in the descent and the echelons and he lost about a minute and a half in the climbs.

Aru's problem is that he's a very bad time trialist for a GC rider. Nothing to do with form.

There's no reason to think that he could have podiumed based on his later performances either. He hasn't been among the very strongest on any mountain stage and he's always going to ship time on flat or flattish TTs.

Quintana having a bad day... after another and another and another...

But still will close the gap to Mollema and Yates...

^^ Not a bad start eh ? Would love to see your example of bad if that is not a bad start

Inmy book losing time like he did WAS a bad start
