How much do you remember of Carlos Sastre? He's pretty much the poster boy for letting go early on and reappearing near the front at the end ahead of loads of people who'd been dropped long after him.ontheroad said:Froome is the most peculiar race rider I've ever seen with yis yo-yo-ing on mountains. How would he cope without his power meter?

Not at all. The guys who did the Tour will definitely drop off, and it's going to come down to who's form drops more, and if the Tour guys' form drops enough for Chaves and Contador to come back

Great to see the big three from the last couple of seasons battling it out.Lexman said:1. Quintana (MOV) 2. Valverde (MOV) +57" 3. @chrisfroome +58"
#LV2016 @albertocontador jumps to 5th in the GC after his late push on today's stage. Stellar ride from the Spanish Tinkoff leader @lavuelta

At this point he's probably like a musician with perfect pitch. You could say "do 380 watts" and he could pedal exactly 380 watts just on feel.
Also, as pointed out by others, he's not yo-yoing - the others are. They're going into the red and backing off while he's doing a steady (steadier) pace. I do think he's doing some kind of negative splits and has figured he can make time overall by not going too deep at the start.
I don't know how you could read that from todays stage. Because I didn't.PremierAndrew said:Red Rick said:Great climb today, though unfortunately, the overall battle for the Vuelta seems over

Quintana went very far into the red today, Froome seemed to hold a small bit back. Let's see if that will tell in a week's time

It's difficult to see anyone coming between them now. I don't think their level isn't going to drop enough for someone like Chaves or Scarponi to sneak in there, and the rest are too far behind or too off form.

I'm very curious from what point jens starts his chrono, because I timed 32'38" for Nairito, which would be an amazing time if jens times from the same point.

Have you got a link to his blog? I've lost it, thanks!
