Wow just tuned in! Pretty great, but the Astana third week peak™ should be used for blowing the race up, not for controlling it ffs!

People complaining about Astana ... what are they supposed to do ? Their entire team is in the 2nd group.
As their DS would you say "Hang tight boys, lets race for 30th?"
I get people are frustrated but ofc they will ride here, as someone else said there is literally nothing else for them to do.

That was me. What I said is that there is literally no reason to chase.
They're burning matches and weakening themselves for zero gain.

Most teams not in the break have a reason to chase, we might not like it, but that's just the long and the short of it, protect your best riders GC position by riding and try and secure your WT points, that's the name of the game.
People might not like it but the job of the other teams is not to just spite Sky at every opportunity.

I think it is in their interests to chase. I think if you were their DS you'd get them to ride. They have 9 riders, many are domestiques that are paid to do this kind of thing. No point not using them.

Indeed, Astana are actually keeping the race going. If they don't ride Quintana wins by 6 minutes and we can all go home. :surprised:
