Talansky was the strongest ...that si why he won
There is also the possibility that Bennett and Majka could have distanced him with 1km to go, but Majka was too afraid to just drag Bennett to the line and risk losing the sprint and, thus, the overall lead. They probably should have done that, considering the time trial.

Stake Laengen doing the climb of his life. 11th at the stage and sitting and 10th in the GC is above all expectations.
Pretty decent for a 1.93m 77kg rider.
He should also be able to take some time in the ITT, maybe coming close to top 5 in the final GC.

Once upon a time Talansky was the secondary up and coming American kid behind TJ. It's odd now to think that despite his own up and downs, Talansky is the now the hope from that generation.

I like Talansky as a rider, he's certainly not top shelf but a solid stage racer and when things don't go right he keeps on trying unlike TJ.

Talansky is the next TJ. All he got to do is to win California ... actually, since he already won Douphine, he is ready to take over and delivery some false hopes.

Re:

This is funny. I had gone to bed yesterday before the stage finished. I had a dream that Talansky took a win. Not in California, but in the Giro, outsprinting Hirt in 2-men finish from breakaway on the sidewalk in one of the cities in Poland, but still.

Good to see Andrew doing well. I was afraid that he was entering another crisis considering how poor his riding was this spring.

Only 14 race days so far, including California. Does he aim to do well in both TdF and Vuelta?

Talansky has a nice sprint, but a weak "punch".

There is a difference between those two things. He is like Uran.

It's weird isnt it? Gesink is the same.

On the other hand Contador is the complete opposite (at least he was in his prime), a really explosive climber who couldnt win a sprint to save his life.

Talking about Gesink, he is incredibly weak this season in mt stages, even more so than normal. I mean he should at least be able to finish with Bookwalter...

In this climbing form I can't see him win a stage in the attack. He's going more and more the Jurgen Vandenbroeck road. Retirement by 2020?

For someone his size he can actually defend himself pretty well on the climbs, he finished 4th in the 2011 Tour de L'avenir (ok, it was a rather easy route) and won the 2010 Giro della Regione Friuli Venezia Giulia. For someone his size he's actually a good climber, his engine is great.

Good on Talansky. I have a hard time with Cannondale in general, I don't really like Vaughters and the likes, but its nice to see them finally win on a WT-stage. Maybe TJ's cracking in Italy inspired him to grab the spot as the leading stage racer of the States. Lmao.

Is the MTF worth watching? Wondering if I should watch it before the TT on such an evenfull friday evening.
