Bardet really dug deep today huh?
Again nothing to see here with that respect.

What is really baffling to me is not having done anything during the year and then show up in this form. That is very, very damning IMHO.

he had a pretty solid and well rounded build up, actually:

that's a pretty nice season. not quite Wiggins 2012 or Froome 2013 but very solid. it looks like he has a very good training plan to complement an incredible amount of talent.

I was talking about Aru!

My mistake.

Second rest day and the situation is:

- Froome in yellow but not nearly as strong as previous years, and his train has been derailed on occasion too
- Aru looking explosive but isolated
- Bardet looking strong again
- Uran back to his best
- Martin attacking relentlessly despite his crash and even gaining time on the flat
- Landa looking like the strongest climber in the race even after the Giro
- Contador and Quintana struggling

How many of these are attributable to PRR reasons vs Clinic reasons? Whatever happened to the days of gendarmes arresting stone-faced riders on rest days? And will Aru go thermonuclear in the last few days like he did at the 2015 Giro, or can you only get away with that sort of thing on home soil?

Looks like the GC contenders have their arm warmers on; should be a fun third week.

Outside chance a contender gets thrown out before (after?) the final yellow jersey presentation.

Stay tuned...

Yep, I predict Aru BB + serious time gains in the alpes.

George Bennett gone too. I thought all these teams brought their own chefs!!!! Getting sick on the day after rest day is suspicious.

Bennett seems relatively clean to me, and I doubt Gilbert was hanging a blood bag yesterday, there's nothing for him the rest of this race.

Team Sunweb, on the other hand, has been ridiculous

It's like a game of chicken - who's first to open the "naughty cupboard". I want someone to shoot off 10 minutes ahead of everyone ....with Froome following :)

Dan Martin "I was a bit sick yesterday and then some of the other guys have been sick as well. Stybar has been sick and Vermote has been sick. The team’s really struggling today."

Martin said he attacked on Sunday as he would have Monday to recover!!! That went well for him and others.

Looks like a huge mix up in blood bags..
Or..One Quickstep rider caught an infection and it has spread all around. They should have used hand sanitizers. :D

You've been around for a while, but a couple of decades ago, and thanks to Willy's insights, this type of group malaise received new medical terminology and was christened Festina Flu.
