La Corsa dei Due Mari starts tomorrow, so this is an appropriate moment to start the thread.

2017 edition provides for a traditional route, very similar to the ones which we used to see in recent years. It begins with a flat TTT, then goes across the peninsule including several nicely designed (most of them quite long) hilly/HTF stages and one MTF stage (Terminillo), and ends with a short and flat ITT.

Profiles:

Stage 1: Lido di Camaiore - Lido di Camaiore, 22km (TTT)

Stage 2: Camaiore - Pomarance, 229 km

They must be the 2 flattest time trials in the same race ever. They are both like a snooker table.

Pomarance and Fermo will particularly suit the Strade Bianche protagonists Kwiat, Stybar and GVA. And Sagan of course, although Fermo will probably be too steep for him.

Fermo is murito territory. It will be too difficult for GVA and Stybar too.

Some thought the course in Rio would be too difficult for GVA too ;)

Why does Froome never ride these races? From what I can tell he's only done TA once and he's never raced PN. It's a bit odd.

Shut, now I have a problem. I am supposed to be a cycling fan and I don't know everyone in that picture. Maybe once they put their helmet on and start riding I will recognize them LOL. :D

Seriously, maybe they put somebody that shouldn't be there. I'll find out!!

I would say A. Yates, between Sagan and Pinot.

I think it's (from the left): Sagan, Yates, Pinot, Greg, Aru, Mollema, TJ, Quintana, Cav, Gav, Nibali.

Don't tell Kirby they left Reichenbach out of that picture!

Looking forward to this - some serious GC contenders there, reminders of Quintana racing up Terminillo in the snow a few years back.
