Trappist beers. Westmalle, Rochefort, Orval, Chimay, Westvleteren (if you can get it), Achel and La Trappe.
Agreed
Well, I'd agree regarding dubbels vs tripels... Additional alcohol in triples makes them less rich in flavour, I'd say.Zinoviev Letter said:Leffe_Bruin said:18-Valve. I can't agree about dubbels tasting better than tripels - but more importantly, many of these beers are not from Flanders! Save the Walloon beers, like Orval, Chimay and Rochefort, for Ardennes week.
(Also, don't underrate the secular breweries, which can be just as good although I suppose there's something more peculiarly Belgian about the monastic breweries).

But he won E3, beating Sagan in the process. You don't do that if you're in bad shape
He and Sagan got away from the group on a tarmac climb IIRC.PremierAndrew said:Mr.White said:Netserk said:He was in **** form in Strade already. I really doubt that it was his race program that caused that.

Sure he wasn't weak, but he actually got dropped by a group of around 9 on the Kwaremont IIRC, and only got back on due to the group of 9 looking at each other, before launching an attack on the flat.

Also Gilbert apparantly racing Roubaix as well next Sunday makes me root even more for him on Sunday.
On Kwito, targetting Líege and Lombardia beforehand sounds reasonable, but he has won the probably 2 races which requires the closest skillset to do well in Flanders. Winning E-3 and Strade tells me he easily could find himself in the finale and when he is that, he usually finds a way to win.

Because it's not in Flanders![]()

Agreed. LBL is a better race for him. I just don't see him as a great cobbles rider, as versatile as he is. If it was allowed to ride on bike paths instead of cobbles or if the gutter wasn't closed off, RVV would be an ideal race for him. Overtraining, bad form or whatever, he did manage to win E3 last year, but in the finale of RVV he had every opportunity to fight for the win and failed. To me it shows that E3 can be won by a versatile rider, whereas RVV favours the true cobbles specialist.tobydawq said:Valv.Piti said:Karnemelkbeekstraat indeed is a wonderful name. I agree on the Kwiato part but as I said, I simply think he has chosen to focus on Liège this year after a couple of bad seasons with a very broad focus and his path to that leads through the Basque Country which eliminates any possibility of a participation in De Ronde.
And also, I have to say that I am not convinced he will be able to power up the steepest, cobbled hellingen as emphatically as some of his adversaries due to his lower weight. So I don't think he has a Flanders-victory in him just yet but I would definitely have bet against him before MSR as well, so who I am to say that.
No. Both are predominantly climbers, a totally useless skill in the E3. Valverde can't sprint against the crowd that decides those racesVelolover2 said:How versatile do you have to be in order to win E3?
Could Valverde win it? Nibali?
A few days ago I looked at a weather forecast for Roubaix which predicted rain on the saturday before the race and rain on the 3 days after the race but sunshine without clouds for sundayPoursuivant said:So are we going to have rain over the next two weekends?
