Im not sure Gilbert wouldve won without the crash. GVA lost at least 10 seconds to the crash, and more seconds lost to the absence of Sagan and Naessen from the group
Van Baarle was at 48s at some point and he was behind the Sagan group. So yeah, think it would have been close.

Omg Pippo in the chase group!!
I feared this would happen. Diminishing the most legendary performance I've seen, oh well.

The race is over when it's over, it is obvious that without the crash they would've caught Gilbert. But this is racing and chapeau Phil.

Re: 2017 Tour of Flanders / Ronde Van Vlaanderen - April 2,

If would lose this it would be both incredibly sad and incredibly funny. It would surely be the biggest Quick Step Fail in the history of the team. And that says a lot

Definitely looking like they would have caught him without the crash.

Still a fantastic win though.

Actually I said earlier Gil would've won anyways even if Sagan had not crashed .... now I'm not so sure.
Yeah. A lot of people here (including me) were premature about that...

Disgusting commentating on Sporza. Not caring about the team car putting Gilbert out of the wind while they where furious in G-W about Sagan and Terpstra getting a tow.
Exactly what I thought as well.

Hmmm I thought Gilbert had won already even before the crash, when they weren't closing the gap on the Kwaremont, but it looks like I was wrong.
Indeed. Gilbert lost big time since Kwaremont.

Great race with a solid level of drama as it should be.

Aggressive tactics by HotSteppers slammed GVA and Sagan in the defensive leading Sagan to make a simple mistake on the cobbles.

Very good win for Gilbert. Lets see what he can do in PR.
