There are no stages that present a reasonable opportunity to attack from far. The climbs (except for Lo Port) are either very easy or too far from the finish. That's the big issue with this parcours - together with this ridiculous TTT, of course.

Anyway, there is no way Valverde doesn't win. He'll grab like 20 bonus seconds as well.

This route was clearly made for valverde. This is just ridiculous... they make routes for uphill sprinters and not for pure attackers. Bring pais vasco, that's a proper race!!!

With this parcours and with Froome not ready yet it was to be expected that Valverde is the no. 1 favorite.

Yeah what? There are 40kms from the summit to the finish and the climb is like 6% average.

Long range, there are 50kms of climbing before-hand with little opportunity for domestiques to return to the fray if you drop them. You just need to have a decent gap on the start of the decent (20k to go) with no support for the GC leaders behind. Its worth a try.

I guess they do tend to favor negative splits, maybe they were just too conservative in the beginning.

Not important. Rojas gets the jersey as the sum of his placings (that is his placing yesterday) is smaller than the others'. Commentators don't understand this, though.
