That was a stupid but brave decision. The Danish team did really well.Frankschleck said:I am still in shock that cort attacked, and didn't wait for sprint

I'm confused are you happy with a sprinter winning or not? Your second post reads like celebrating a sprinter winning a bunch sprint.![]()

Much harder than a Giro flat stage.
Didn't help that for some weird reason he tried an attack earlier.
It's almost reached the point where there's no point in picking Gilbert and GVA in the same team. They'll both be there at the end, but they'll never work together.SKSemtex said:Belgium did not deserve to win. They had a team to get rid of Peter when he was riding in the back.
Sprint finishes are a part of cycling (duh). It was up to others with different strengths to make the pace high enough to drop the semi-sprinters like Sagan and Matthews. They didn't, and so the race was won. If they couldn't drop Sagan on the hills then he's strong enough and deserves the win. I don't really see the problem.Brullnux said:The race itself wasn't bad at all I don't think, much better than the previous two years. But the podium is pretty terrible, a vidication of wheelsucking. At least Norway did something I guess.

Portugal11 is borderline did. During the Vuelta his views on Nibali went "overrated, will get what he deserves when he is crushed by the true greats" to "too good for the tour", through various stages in between.Maaaaaaaarten said:portugal11 said:I just don't want a sprinter to win

movingtarget said:it always depends on which wheelsucker wins of course. Moral indignation seems to be quite mild at the moment.
Sagan is not a sprinter to me. He is a classicomano (for me), he has potential to win milan san remo and harder races like liege or roubaixMaaaaaaaarten said:portugal11 said:I just don't want a sprinter to win

More Strides than Rides said:I need to come up with a google extension that replaces every instance of "wheelsucker" with "cyclist".
Because that's just cycling. Sometimes it's your job to drop everyone else, but sometimes it's everyone else's job to drop you. You might as well criticize the guy for eating and drinking during the race.
Uh...it's cycling. Virtually the entire sport is shaped around "wheelsucking" if this was an example of it. This was just normal racing - a sprint finish. This wasn't like a Gerrans-Cancellara at MSR situation.Brullnux said:The race itself wasn't bad at all I don't think, much better than the previous two years.
