Alaphilippe will be leader for France. All of our sprinters are not in optimal form, and the parcours isn't flat.
It is nearly flat though and way too easy for Alaphilippe. Demare was second in Hamburg, so he can't be in that bad a shape.
It's not Copenhagen at all.

I'm sure Trentin will be the Italian captain, not Viviani.

Moscon will copy the mighty "Treno di Forlì" Ercole Baldini and win it with a long solo attack.

Man, it will be funny to watch the colombian climbers trying to control a flat race for their sprinter :D

Who says they're trying to control it? I think a much better option would be to launch multiple attacks throughout the race and try to break it up. Don`t get me wrong, Gaviria is a great sprinter but he`ll have to compete with Sagan, the German`s sprinter of choice, the French sprinter of choice, Kristoff, etc. I think whittling the group down with attacks and then sitting on is a better choice.

He's faster than Sagan, Kristoff, Degenkolb etc.
Only riders faster in the current peleton are Kittel and Cavendish in my opinion. The course is too difficult for Kittel and Cavendish is still recovering from his injury in any event.
However, experience does matter in such a long, technical and desired race, and in that respect Gaviria loses out.
(-Demare probably also has an edge over Gaviria in terms of both speed and experience, though)
He's still Columbia's best choice though.

EDIT: Note that Gaviria has crashed in a race and may not race the Worlds at all.
I don't understand Dutch at all, but this link explains apparently. Any Dutch speakers want to explain?

isnt this years WC Road Race ending with a uphill finish? you are talking about sprints

There is a hill on the circuit, but not a very hard one and it is not at the finish.
The hill on the TTT course actually has a steeper average gradient, but having that would mean the circuit would be probably be far too big for whatever the UCI allow.

Cort and Valgren to lead Denmark.

SKA not with a free role :(?

Those two were just picked early, not specified as leaders. Breschel and SKA will have have free roles or be leaders no doubt.

I don't think so. The Danes are often quite cautious to have a designated leader and stick to their plan. Perhaps Valgren and Cort will be co-leaders to cover two different scenarios but I don't think Kragh will be as well, even though he would deserve it.

Maybe but it's meaningless to have attacking cyclists possibly have to ride defensively for a sprint finish when ten+ guys will be faster than Cort anyway. At most he should be a secondary option. I still blame Orica knucklehead directors for turning Cort into a totally passive cyclist.

My selection would be with Breschel, Juul-Jensen, Kragh, Valgren, Guldhammer (yes), Mads Pedersen. Pedersen as gregario, the rest in all breaks in the last 60km.

Cant be too bad with Gaviria now confirmed starting in Britain and aiming to win a stage.

The following exchange occurred on the Fernando Gaviria rider thread:

Quickstep just announced him for their roster in the Tour of Britain and he said he aims for a stage win...
Which they probably made a few days ago, if not yesterday before the crash. Lefevere is pretty clear: at this moment he is not ready and reaching and being able to ride Britain is vital.

Hurt his knee, it's not very serious but because of the large break he just took he needs some competition km's and that's what's worrying them. They doubt if he will be 100% att the worlda

There is no other way to descend from that hill so they can use it only as finish.
It's not a problem of UCI allowance.

Great Britain pre-selection:

Adam Blythe
Mark Cavendish
Mark Christian
Steve Cummings
Jon Dibben
Owain Doull
Chris Froome
Tao Geoghegan Hart
Peter Kennaugh
Ian Stannard
Ben Swift
Scott Thwaites
Geraint Thomas
What a horrible squad. I doubt any of those riders will do anything of note.

Who will be the leader for GB ?

No idea who will be leader. With his stature as former champion Cav may be plan A but I think Ben Swift is the best medal hope for GB given his record in long races like Milan San Remo.

I would be very surprised to see Froome in the road race but he is a contender for the time trial with that route and distance.
