I just hoped this is raced hard. If it comes down to a larger group that Matthews outsprints that will be wholly disappointing.

Really interested to see how Bernal goes this week. Dear god it's incredible the talent coming out of Colombia (and, specifically, Boyaca) at the moment.

But I'll go with Omar Fraile to take a typically opportunistic win.
well done!

Shame on Gaspa and the Izagirre brothers.

Anyway, very nice finale, and huge respect for Gougeard!

edit: I can see Gaspa wasn't in the group, so shame only on the brothers ;)

Seemed to me that Fraile went at the same time. Simply Colbrelli can't handle that long of an effort on a climb like Fraile can.

But, I didn't catch any replays.

To be clear, I believe I saw them go at the same time, each on one side of Gaudu

Sonny went early and then Fraile came around him just before the final curve. From what I recall.

They didn't. They were +1 from Matthews. So now Thomas et.al. are 1 second closer to the lead.

I see what you mean. I'm not sure he was sprinting, so much as accelerating a little to go into the last few turns in the lead

Yeah, initially I thought he was longer on the front when he pulled Gaudu(?) back before the turn, but I'm still sure it mattered.
