They want somebody in the break.

Stage victory would be the first thought. I doubt they are going to try and send Froome up the road later in the stage. That would be very unexpected.

I agree that’s the most likely option but even that doesn’t make sense. The break is gone for the next few hours and maybe for good (unless sprint teams get motivated).

On Sporza only Viviani (and maybe other sprinters) are reported to be behind the peloton.
