The race is still young but aren't Italy supposed to be the ones who lead the chase? I have not seen them all day.

Why Italy? They don't have a big favorite, Nibali is not in top form, and Moscon is hardly a big favorite. France, Spain, UK should be at the front...

It's nothing to do with the Tour.
Short climbs above threshold require a very different skillset to long climbs at threshold
