Very big group for a this hard course, this deep in the race.
Agreed, which kind of suggests it hasn't been that hard. I guess that should suit the faster guys more than the pure climbers.

You'd think either Colombia or Italy would have wanted to make it tougher by now. Surely neither of them want Alaf or Bala to be fresh near the finish.
Yep, seems a bit strange. I guess Italy think that Nibali might be able to get a 5-10 second gap over anyone at the top and hold it to the line - MSR style. But I agree they and certainly Colombia surely could have benefitted from a hard race.

They've only pushed harder for a couple of times, dropped some, and now waiting for the final lap and the Hell.
The less harder racing the less chances for pure featherweight climbers.

Italy is really going fast but they don't really do much damage

Gap goes down from 2:20 to 1:30 in 3km. "if the gap doesn't go down any quicker then the peloton are in trouble"

Thank you, BBC, for making me miss Kirby

Chapeau to Gogl for lasting this long. He was supposed to be one of Austria's domestique's for the flat.
