Why shouldn't they be at the front? It's not pathetic at all. They've missed the break and Landa isn't going to bring it back by himself. Better to actually use your riders and try to finish as high as possible.Laplaz said:

From DD's perspective this is the right thing to do though. No one in the break, may aswell bring it back to 20s and try and bridge with an attack. They can't do anything at all if it goes up to 50s+, it's just a 100% loss.

Yep, and even if their leader's highest ever position was 20th, there would still be a good reason to ride now. They've missed the break, and have riders spare in a reduced peloton in a chaotic race - of course they should give themselves every chance to get the best possible result.Dekker_Tifosi said:

Fifth in FW, I doubt the sponsor gets much exposure for that. If he wants to win, that's fine, but he should attack instead of dragging Valverde to the Mur de Huy.

Pathetic would be doing nothing, watching Landa toil away while the gap to the break goes out, and then having four relatively fresh riders arrive at the foot of Mur, when the top 10 positions have already been filled.Red Rick said:

Wellens have been a bit disappointing to me this year. Conservative riding like in Amstel. He is riding more like a GC rider now. :sad:

Maybe he will attack on the penultimate climb, or some other point. But obviously he can't attack while the break is 40-50 seconds up the road. His team have to narrow the gap first, whatever tactics they later want to use.El Pistolero said:
