You're doing it wrong if you're watching for the last 40km. The race is made in the 100km before then and while this year there weren't any huge moments it was a very interesting tactical affair.

He's been terrible this spring. Probably his legs aren't there, but he's looked even worse than all those years when he used to spend loads of energy only to finish 2nd or 3rd. This year he's ridden conservatively and still never looked close to winning a race.

The race never really seemed in doubt from about 40 km from the finish. The chase wasn't happening.

Imho all 3 monuments were a bit "meh" this year, all were saved though by great riders making great moves.

Was it? It was a great move by Sagan, clearly he's studied the passivity of the other favourites and thought the gamble worth while. But other than that, there weren't many great tactics on show. Even Dillier didn't attempt to create problems in the last 10km.

Yeah. Three very worthy winners who gambled and got well rewarded. But three poor races for a neutral.

I doubt there's much he could have done.

Anyone disappointed in Dillier's ride should probably watch another sport instead.
