I'm guessing Mitchelton and Bahrain are not going to do any work in the break with Mollema and Zakarin there?

Both those teams have riders in the group. But maybe if the group gets too much of a gap they will have to go down and help their captains. They wanna keep it to under 2 minutes. So Yates and Nibali could make the jump instead of Nieve, Pozzo etc will have to wait to then bring back Mollema, Zakarin etc.

From CN live ticker: Antonio Nibali and Domenico Pozzovivo (Bahrain-Merida), Davide Formolo (Bahrain-Merida).

Also half Trek is there.

Some have been counting how many minutes would have to gain Oomen, Amador, Conti or Polanc to become dangerous GC. Now, Mollema and Zakarin ain't no joke. They are a real danger. Gutsy move by them.

We have slandered Trek for awhile on here, but gotta give it them. This is great, even if it successful or not.

I'd say it's already a success for the race at least!
Let's hope for fireworks on the Pian del Lupo already!

Kind of a big question is now whether Nibali wants a chaotic race or lets his team chase. The scenario right now looks great for beating Roglic but he'd look pretty stupid if he let's everyone else back into contention and it then turns out he would have beaten Roglic anyway. Bit of a gamble right now.

His only threats are Roglic , Yates ,MAL

If he keeps an eye on them and stay cool he is sorted ...Not up to him to chase

All hail the great Bulke Mollema .....talk about putting on the line ...well done Trek
This move also allows Ciccone to chase the blue jersey while helping Mollema at the same time.

Jumbo-Visma has Van Emden and Leezer almost back at the front, Tolhoek is with Mollema and even UAE is working with them. It looks good for Roglic.

His team will nit chase, there's Jumbo, Bora and UAE to keep the gap manageable until the next climb. Depends if his men up the road are bridgeable on the descend of Pian del Lupo, he'll move on the the climb or after. Same can be said of Yates, MAL and Landa.

Well if noone chases it's Mollema's to lose. Nibali already knows how weak the Jumbo team is, so if he's relying on them to catch the break he might be in for disappointment.

Vau! I went for a massage and late lunch and things really have heated up. Yesterday already had its moments and we can expect them to continue today and tomorrow. Avanti!
