Weather forecast is for light southerly wind and rain showers during the day - high only 14 C.

A day when the race might not be won, but easily could be lost. Superman has been unusually good at staying in the peloton and not losing time, so I think he'll get 3rd not far behind Yates (who'll be glad for the rest day and two flat stages afterwards - not like last year) & Roglic. We'll find out how these long stages and rain have effected the other contenders.

U no doublescreen?
Don't really like watching ITTs.
It makes the immersion for both less. Really didn't like watching the WC and Wimbledon final side by side.

Lopez better than Nibali in a TT? Some people never learn.

I could turn out to be wrong but this feels like a different Lopez to me.
Even if he is different he lost 5 sec. to Nibali in first TT, a very short one. Even if we don't take into consideration the huge difference in proven TT ability between the two and only this transformed Lopez, it seems impossible that he can beat Nibali in a time trial, who by the way will battle with Yates for the second place in San Marino.

I expect some big time gaps and that someone will lose the overall tomorrow.

I do think the big question is how much with the crash hurt Roglic tomorrow.

Later starters will have an advantage with lower chance of rain and the roads drying.

Both Slongo and White said that they expect Nibali and Yates to lose about 30-40 seconds to Roglič. If that'll be the case they should be very happy IMO. I think it's a little bit too optimistic.

Conti will remain in maglia rosa pretty comfortably I think. I watched "Processo alla tappa" on RAI after the stage and I have to say Conti really looks like a great dude, cool person to be around to. Antonio Nibali was there too. He's also a pretty cool guy from what I saw.

How far do the main GC guys start apart anyway?
From Bob Jungels on (15:13) they start every three minutes. Before that at every minute.

Re: 2019 Giro d'Italia stage 9: Riccione - San Marino 34.7km

I think Roglic beating Yates by 40 seconds would be about par.

Less than 20 seconds and Yates could become favourite. More than a minute and things start to look difficult for Yates. But there is a long, long way to go.

I think Lopez will go well. Nibali I am not so sure about.

Amongst the main riders, if I had to predict:

Roglic
Yates +40
Lopez +55
Nibali +1:10

One possibly underestimated thing about this parcours (the whole race, not this stage) is how much of a premium it puts on descending. And Roglic is a spectacular descender. If Yates/Lopez can get a gap on any climb that is not a mountaintop finish Roglic will likely bring them back.

Lopez will be the really interesting guy here – who knows what to expect after Bologna? 22km flat is a lot different though, even if he was quicker than Dumoulin on the flat before..

Yates I would think will lose 1:20 maybe to Roglic, Nibali a minute?

Expect more from Jungels – his ride in Bologna was very bad for him. Conti loses maybe 1:30-2 minutes to Roglic tomorrow.

Big time gaps by the looks of it at least for some of the pure climbers. Yates and Nibali can't afford to lose too much but the third week could be interesting as Roglic has come into the race a bit more forward in condition than is usually ideal. In that case he needs to make as much time as possible on this stage.

It's not about immersion.
It's about rapidly-turning-your-head-from-side-to-side/quickly-zapping-from-channel-to-channel in a futile attempt to try to watch both things at the same time.
Hey! At least you won't be confused… It's two different sports! Try keeping track of two bike races in your head at the same time.

Did everybody forget about the Paris-Nice ITT?

I think he will be very close, and maybe even faster than Roglic.

That's pretty much also my prediction.
