Slongo just a tad optimistic with his prediction then...
20 seconds off, pretty close in all honesty. Compared to Martinelli and White who were minutes off...

D.Cassin on the Rai just showed a clip of Yates in full TT shaking his leg muscles
- he probably cramped up due to the conditions
poor guy

I hope that this Giro is not ruined by the TT and see good action in the mountains. It looks good on paper but we have seen this storyline in the past.

Official: Campanerts lost the TT on that bike change.
to be fair to Rogla's effort thogh, Victor rode the flat part without the rain...
Considering the type of TT with the climb, i find campenaerts effort a lot more impressive. This was tailored for Roglic, not Campenaerts, yet he even did the climb faster than most of the climbers despite his mechanical.
Roglic won an ITT in Romandie with 13 seconds on Campenaerts because he had better weather conditions (wind).

This is really dramatic for Campenaerts because he was clearly the fastest today, on a parcours not suited to his strengths, because he hasn't won a TT in a GT, and because he was f*cked by the ineptitude of his team.

I like a good TT but there is too much in this Giro imo...2 would have been enough one hilly and one flat

60kms total, with only the 2km at the end of the prologue really being a "climb" climb. That's barely more than the 1 ITT from 2015, (which also had a 17km TTT) for example. The only difference with it being 3 separate stages is that it gives Roglic 3 stage wins instead of just 1 or 2.

The right rider won the ITT - Yes, Campaenerts lost 20 to 30 seconds with the bike change, but at the same time, he had much better weather conditions - When he rode the flat part was dry which probably gave him an extra 30 seconds.

This.

Back to normal for Lopez then.

Nibali would beat Mollema if the rain held off. Started up right after Mollema finished..
***, that was pure uphill. Just admit Mollema climbed faster today. Sjeesjh

Lopez had a flat.

Yeah, but mostly had flat legs.

I don't understand why the people that constantly whine bother to watch.

Even Ackerman and his constant smile gives me enjoyment. But then I've loved cycling for going on 60 years now :).

Lopez had a flat.

He lost approximately 90 seconds to the best in each segment, even 90 seconds to Roglic in the uphill part

Wonder if the weather over the past week has resulted in one or two riders getting the sniffles

Why would it?

Because you tend to get a cold when the weather is bad?

LOL there is zero evidence for that. One gets a cold from a virus, not the weather. You guys need to stop listening to the likes of Oliver Naesen.

After today does Astana ride for Bilbao and does Movistar ride for Carapaz (well will Landa actually do that regardless of what the team wants?).
Both Bilbao and Carapaz will have free reigns to do whatever now I think. That was always the case for Carapaz unless Landa was flying (which we still dont know), but Bilbao will probably have a free role. Still, lets not overreact with 4 incredibly hard mountain stages and lots of other opportunities.

Good point on Carapaz. He was always going to have free reign to do what he wants. You're right we don't know how well Landa is going. Landa just tweeted that he was very happy with his TT. Basically that's the best he can do with a TT. So it may not change anything there.
