Anyone knows why Alaphilippe is missing from French RR startlist?

Edit: apparently he has decided to skip the race, at least that is said on french media. I wonder if he's going to European Games that are on sunday (RR) and wednesday (TT).
No.

Once again the parcours of the French Nationals is your typical Coupe de France one, favoring fastmen than can handle multiple hills.

But in a France field when he has dropped a couple of riders (Demare, Bouhanni, maybe Laporte) he has chances to win a sprint against everyone else, is a non sense not even give a try.

It’s kind of impossible for Alaphilippe to win. He has maybe 1 or 2 teammates, riding against 30+FDJ, AG2R, and a sea of other CT riders.

Yeah and it's not like loneriders never win a nats...OH WAIT...THEY DO WIN...ALL THE TIME...

I'm especially curious about the Belgian Championship Individual Timetrial (Men Elite). June 27th 2019 in Middelkerke, 15h (starting every two minutes). Men Elite ride 3 laps for a total of 38,3km. The course is flat.

The startlist: http://uitslagen.kbwb-rlvb.com/index_bestanden/pdf2019/BKTTELITEMIDDELKERKEDEELN.pdf

The only one missing, that i would have liked to see, is De Plus. But other than him, it's going to be a real interesting ITT, imho. I'm guessing something like this:

Campenaerts // van Aert > Lampaert // Evenepoel > De Gendt // Wellens > Van Moer // Frison // Van Hooydonck

I would normally not have placed Evenepoel so high, but he just seems to have hit peak form this month (and the fact that it's less than 40k). My money would be on van Aert beating Campenaerts, also mainly based on form. Also curious about Van Moer, who took U23 ITT champion a few months ago, he is silver medallist WC U23 ITT, and he beat Bjerg earlier this year.

Not so sure. Alaf was the clear winner on the paper, and now that he's gone, we have 25 GFC against 20 AG2R that can dictate how the race goes. Sprint? Demare clearly is the favorite. Fast pace to drop sprinters, that's more risky but in a small all-rounder sprint, well, that could be Geniez, Cosnefroy, Madouas, Pinot :) .

Addendum: not a very selective course, but the kind that saw Voeckler win the jersey. So it doesn't have to be a sprinter ftw.

Also Price-Pejtersen won the U23 Danish ITT, ahead of Bjerg and Norsgaard.
He hasn't wone an ITT all year. Lost early in the season to Van Moer (runner up in Innsbruck), and now he gets beaten by an even younger guy in the national U23 ITT.

On the other hand, looking at his record of the previous 2 seasons, the only ITT's he won, were the WC IT U23. I'm actually surprised, that for being heralded as one of the biggest ITT prodigies in a long time, that he wins so few of them.

He's had repeated health troubles this year though. That's also the reason he did not participate in the road race for U23s and is solely focussing on the Elite race. Price-Pejtersen is definitely flying a bit under the radar, very strong time trialist on his day.

You may have a point that he is not as dominant as his two WC titles suggest. He seems to very good at targeting and preparing for specifik events like the world and national championships (had a very good hour record attempt for his age as well) where he usually performs at his absolute highest level. His schedule might have changed a bit this year though, so I’m not sure if he put as much focus into this race as he did previous year. Price-Pejtersen is no slouch either.

Also he is defintely more suited to the longer courses so it’s no surprise that he will get beaten in short/medium lenght time trials in stage races during the season. He isnt the most complete tt’er but is an absolute beast on long courses. He reminds me a bit of Tony Martin in that regard.

Spain's National Championships are in the region of Murcia.

Official announcements for all the National Championships should be coming with in the next day or so.

But this one was 33km, not exactly short. Even longer than the ITT in Innsbruck. And he lost by half a minute.

I had actually not looked that closely into Bjerg's results, and i definitely don't want to take away from his potential, but it is somewhat remarkable that in 3 seasons, the only two ITT's he's won, were two WC'ships.

Took a while before I realised you were talking about Bjerg, also… what's up with this? Dude, that's the wrong country!

I wasnt talking about this one, of course it’s a surprise that he didnt win.

Actually, looking at his itt’s from the last two years, he hasnt ridden against his own age group too often. This year, he rode against u23 competition twice in tt’s, in Triptyque where he was 2 seconds off the winner and then in the national championships. In 2018 he rode two itt’s in u23 races again, one in the Baby Giro (3rd place), which was not a flat itt and came at the end of the race. The other one being the worlds where he won. In 2017 he was beaten twice by Asgreen in u23 races (who is three years older than Bjerg).

All of his results apart from these have been against senior competition where he cant really be expected to win yet but has been surprisingly consistent actually.

Caicedo won both ITT and road race championships in Ecuador.

What a fitting name to the situation- Segundo Navarette finished 2nd in ITT.

You can ride a NC of another country, there isn't a rule that prevent to do so even if is not common (in the bigger countries, in the smaller ones happens more) and if you win you don't get the jersey.

Ah, there was also this guy, but according to Feltet.dk he is actually Danish. Then again, according to Feltet.dk Mads Christensen - that is 35-year-old, has been retired for four years - took part, pretty sure that's not allowed.

Does anyone know if the British road race is on TV? Eurosport seemed to have a lot last year but are only showing the French this year and live on E2. ITV don't seem to be showing it either but I gather schedules change/youtube perhaps?
