Maybe, but apart from the INEOS duo, it's mostly 2nd grade favourites who gain time on Fuglsang/Pinot. But for sure, the battle for the overall win has now taken a step in an unfortunate direction.Simurgh said:

Yeah, not smart to go that hard and drop everyone from that group. He should have gone a little bit easier and they might have limited their losses better than what they are doing now.
If they would have made it back, great. But closing a 30 second in the hill himself and drop everyone, while the group in front going full gas was not smart.

Only thing that sucks about this is that we'll be robbed of any chance of a GC battle in the mountains.
And why is the always the "good guys" that are caught behind in the crosswinds.

Group 2 paniced...would have been better to muster helpers and keep them

Anything under 1'30" time loss for Pinot is actually not bad considering the circumstances. Could have been worse.
The Tour is over by week one and a Frenchman is bleeding a bunch of time because he doesn't know how to behave in a peloton.
