(Are we allowed to talk about riders from our own countries?)

Anyway… Mads, what're you doing?
Oh ffs, you can talk about Danes all you want. It's just that the amount of attention is completely disproportionate to their actual impact and so is no more than space-filling for most of the readers here.

Yates big favorite here.

But guys like Schachmann, Teuns, Bilbao, Benoot, Costa, Matthews, Van Avermaet (he's climbing really well apparently) can come close (prob forgetting some)

Groenewegen thinks it's a sprinter stage with Sagan, Matthews up there? :D

he probably want's some time cussion to avoid having problems with time limit. I know today is maybe not the stage, but any power saved today might come handy in later stages.

The stage will not be decided on the final climb I think. The descent is way too long for a light climber to stay in front. If the break makes it, the winner will more likely come from a sprint of a small group (or getting away opportunistically in the final kms).

True, depends on how hard they race the climbs I guess.

With this size of the breakaway you'd expect the gap to grow faster.

Not really, when everybody wont help. Less cooperation.
The sprinters and those interested in points don't want to dig in knowing they'll get to the intermediate anyway.
And those interested in the stage know it's gonna be about climbing.
There's also some interest in the bunch, it seems.
