I'm also surprised how well Rui Costa is going in this race. Finished 2nd yesterday and then again 2nd today. His past few years haven't been the best so it's looking good for him.
He was pretty strong last year, when the route was harder. 5th on gc behind Roglic, Bernal, Porte and Fuglsang.

Roglic strong again, Rui Costa still good, G went too early but will he have to do the Giro now that Bernal is injured?

Surely, Thomas will not go to the Giro!

Well Froome did tell him a while back it would be good for him if he went for the Giro.

"hey G, I've heard you can go even faster downhill if you rest your chin on the top tube and put your hands behind your back!"

Roglic looks supreme but also like he hasn’t had to get past 3rd gear at any point so it’s unlikely this race will take too much out of him. The confidence gained will be a positive ahead of the Giro and with the sad injury to Bernal I now think it’s Roglic vs Dumoulin with the wily old fox Nibali as the wild card with the proven 3 week endurance.

Simon Yates is a terrific rider but I think will lose too much in the time trials to make top 2.

Rogla's really impressive. Although today's stage was shortened and the final ascent wasn't that demanding to ignite the fight between the best climbers in the race, Roglic isn't showing weaknesses.
As far as his Giro's concerned, well, I don't think he and the team are mistaking in preparation and peaking too early. They have enough knowledge and, most important, last season and the Tour experience.
There's going to be half a dozen of equal contenders and a half more from the second row... 'cause it's Giro.

Roglic on track for the Giro. Considering his late start to the season, Thomas should be fine for the Tour. Shame about Bernal.

That was an exhibition by Roglič.

I’m not sure it is wise for the Giro though. Unless I underestimate his level.

Dominant display.
Roglic is reference point a week before the Giro.
G a bit below my expectation, but he's improving quickly after the slow start of the season.
Good race.

The easyiness of his victory scares me. You could say the field wasn't so good but then again the Tour winner was here.

If Roglic keeps this form for may or even becomes better than no Yates, Nibali, Dumoulin or Lopez is gonna stop him.

Great ride by Roglic all week, but it seems like it was a very underwhelming race all week, where no gaps were able to be created at all (having the climb cut short of course did not help) via attacks.

I'm going to elevate Roglic as my favourite for the Giro now too.

I am just happy for Großschartner, even though he only lost out on the podium by one second. But superb early season for him. He always was one of the brightest prospects in Austrians junior scene, with a huge engine and particularly shining in hard races. What surprises me, is his climbing level. Always thought of him as a passable climber but eventually more a classics man. But since last year he really has shifted his focus on stage races. Right decision it seems. Also going for the Vuelta this year. Long shot but maybe he can crack the top 10.
