Both Alaphilippe and VDP told RAI they believe the route change won't make much of a difference. The selection was always going to happen in the circuit.

I think Valverde had it correct. Maybe Ala and VDP are trying to downplay the x-wind parts (some of which are still there) for an element of surprise

Sad to see two climbs removed but I don't think this will change the race much.
The Belgiums have the strongest team and they will try to blow that race with several attacks by Evenepoel and Wellens to build up things for Gilbert or Van Avermaet.
I think MVDP is the strongest by I worry a bit about his lack of experience so Sagan is my choice.
