Was she the one who initiated the breakaway? And the two others joined and then combined effort for first couple hours?
Haven't watched from the beginning, but both Austrian TV and gcn stated that she attacked at kilometer 0, so is say she was at least one of the initiators.

Even more remarkable, as she put the focus on her career at University and not in cycling.

I blame the Italians and Spanish. There was a period where the main group split and the Dutch were all on the wrong side both had numbers yet they just looked around. Awful racing.

You can try to explain it any way for your own liking, but the fact is the Dutch lost the Olympics today for their own stupidity. No-one else to blame.
