I think Thomas will want to take a meaningful chunk of time and if he doesn’t it’s not a great sign for him
As a counterpoint, Thomas has a long history of bad crashes, and never accumulated the palmarès in the classics he could have done - in fact it's a large part of why he went the direction he did as a rider - so with the wind being as it is, he might go all out to gain time, but he might just be happy getting into the city upright, and then taking what he can on the flat.

If it's still in any way possible, if I was a rider still to start, I would remove the disc wheel and use a normal one.

As the wind continues to get worse, I tend to agree. Dennis is riding like it’s very bad out there at the moment

He was blown away by the wind in Gent Wevelgem, wasn't he?

And if it's possible to ride in aero tuck with a regular wheel that could even be faster. Of course not sure if that is the case, looks sketchy either way.
