Chapeau Ganna the new TT king. Showed off his Rainbow with honor.

Poor MAL, I hope he isn't badly injured :(.

It's a shame the wind has left the late GC guys with so much time to take back. But it's a Long race yet to come!

This is 2020 and this is the Giro. Half the high mountain stages probably get cancelled due to bad weather.

All the more reason to start as soon as we get to Etna and if we see the high mountain stages get cancelled it was already going to be less fun regardless of if someone got into a dominant position off the TT

Vlasov started 45 minutes before Fuglsang, Nibali and Kruijswijk. The wind was faster at that time.

Maybe? Maybe he just caught it on the change though. Hard to know for sure.

And Sagan is off to a good start in the Giro. He has the first 2 points, even if in the wrong jersey competition :tearsofjoy:

I am gutted he will not be wearing blue tomorrow :grinning:. He can win tomorrow and be in blue as well if Zabel will not score kom points earlier in stage. There is a hope

The weather reports showed 6m/s wind from south at 15' and 2m/s wind from north-west at 16'. I don't know if the weather changed linearly or by some other function, but he is likely to have had better conditions than the later starters.

A top 10 IS a top placing. What is a top placing for you? A victory? Then i would have spoken about wins or victories, or at least podiums.
15 minutes, of which 13 minutes downhill, is still a short ITT. He was 10th 3 years ago in the Giro U23 ITT over 14km. He was 2nd two years ago over 22km in the Giro u23 ITT.
Again, Ganna's results when he was 18-20 years old, were not that much better. There were guys who beat Ganna's ass in that agebracket, who are now far behind, like Affini.

And i'm sure you can list clinic suspects from the past of every team. By that logic every rider in the peloton is suspect. And it was you who made the clinic connection, not me.
If you see someone get second or third in a GT time trial as a neo usually you would expect top youth categories results. Almeida at best has average results. If you look deeper Pressnitz Spa are two km prologues and that Triptyque 10th place, to pick one example, had Mobach, Wirtgen, Weemaes, Cullaigh, who ever these guys are, ahead. Almeida's results in the world's, the most important time trial, are 28th and 30th.

Well, can't say I'm happy about this result. The giro is obviously far from over but that was still a hug blow for some contenders.
Well that's a good thing isn't it. Some contenders losing time early is what makes for a more interesting racing later on. Is not like they lost minutes in a heavy crash. They are all still haelthy. Except for Lopez. For Astana it's a huge blow. For Lopez even bigger. Too bad.

Yates needs to rethink his strategy of taking pink late and attack like in 2018
That was the most amazing & entertaining 2 weeks - he was amazing

Counting on high mountains in 2 weeks is a bad idea, good chance stages will be changed due to weather.

I was so anti Thomas when he was winning the tour but i have come around a bit, he seems like really a very classy guy. At least his team cant strangle this race even if he can be defensive

It's weird that the stages finish so early btw. Of course I understand why, but still.

Haven't been here since the Tour ...Tune in a read the same guys failing and wailing about the Giror been over already

I dont think there is any point in going all out on Thomas on Etna ...let Simon Yates attack and Ineos can chase

Thomas is now going very well but his base is imo weak...he gotta race weight very fast and he needed to build up at a more steady rate

Fuglsang,Stevie K and The shark will get him in the Alps

A very annoying first stage. It would have set things up much better if the wind had remained similar and others had ceded the same kind of time as Yates to Thomas, 20-40 seconds.

The race has already been set, so to speak.

Long way to go.

The weather could play a big factor on how hard the race will be. Rain, cold and wind.
