The wind has decreased dramatically in speed and the direction has also changed a bit for the late starters.
Yep, you can easily see it at the finish... The leaves on the road are barely moving whereas two hours ago, it was literally blowing in their back like crazy!!!

Yes, there was a more direct tailwind for the earlier starters for the first 10 km's or so.

That there is almost no wind now is probably terrible for the late starters.

It was risky before, but they probably had a lot of tailwind on some parts.

Based on these times, it's worse than that I think, and in fairness it was predicted pre-stage. Not the first time Ineos and Mitchelton are the teams to get this right either.

I lean more toward that the wind played the major role today and they just got lucky with the time their favorites started, for better or worse.

Well CCC played it great too to be honest, it's not their fault Zakarin is not in form. Also Astana at least sent Vlasov early.

Nibs did just fine. I bet he would've been happy before the stage for equal time with Kelderman who is solid TT'er and 20s faster than Fuglsang. It was just wrong shot to be at the end today.

  1. 15 minutes is much different to a prologue.
  2. Show the top ITTers who don't have better results. You claimed it, not me. And edit: and that would still be different to you original point.
  3. You are the one with your own unique definition of too many top results to count, if now 10th places are considered.
Brambilla producing an absurd ITT at QS is a fact. It was what it was, but the fact that you made a connection with the clinic, suggests that even you don't have a credible explanation for that ride.
lol
A top 10 IS a top placing. What is a top placing for you? A victory? Then i would have spoken about wins or victories, or at least podiums.
15 minutes, of which 13 minutes downhill, is still a short ITT. He was 10th 3 years ago in the Giro U23 ITT over 14km. He was 2nd two years ago over 22km in the Giro u23 ITT.
Again, Ganna's results when he was 18-20 years old, were not that much better. There were guys who beat Ganna's ass in that agebracket, who are now far behind, like Affini.

And i'm sure you can list clinic suspects from the past of every team. By that logic every rider in the peloton is suspect. And it was you who made the clinic connection, not me.

Nibalis shape seems to be fine. Among the GC guys that started with the wind disadvantage he gains time on everyone not named Kelderman (only lost 1s).

Well, can't say I'm happy about this result. The giro is obviously far from over but that was still a hug blow for some contenders.
