I mean when Almeida had an off day, Remco was still in contention to win. When Remco did, Almeida was not. No way should you abandon the guy who can win for a guy who can top 10.

"Can" being the operative word. Perhaps our expectations about Remco's potential in this race are different than those of Joe Alan et al. And the latter may have a better evidential basis. Just guessing.

Not his call though. You can do stuff like that when you're actually the strongest man in the race (Froome) or you've already won everything and don't give a *** (Armstrong), but burning bridges in Almeida's position - eh...

It’s certainly going to be an unpleasant day for the worst climbers. Sagan, Gaviria, Viviani have all been climbing well, but the likes of Groenewegen are in for some long hours.

I'm sure there'll be some shenanigans in the groupetto.
