Ah fair enough. I saw the "fruitful" as it being criticizing riders for leaving after they done something. I'm pretty certain Mader and Dombrowski would have gone for the mountain jersey and still be here if it wasn't for their crashes.

Yeah true, although he was second in the final TT last year, so maybe he could have performed if it wasn't for his injury. He can climb fairly well so if he'd take it easy in the last few stages he might cause an upset like Chad Haga did a couple years back, certainly considering Ganna will have to work hard. Clearly not this year though xD

Yeah, on the other hand, what can they lose? They don't have to control the race, they are not going for stages, none of them will be able to stay with Yates when the absolute best are going, so what else is the team there for in this race?

They 3.5 riders for the flat and 3.5 riders for the climb, I think they can do a pretty decent job tbh. The gap is in fact coming down a bit at the moment. Besides, they don't necessarily have to do the job all by themselves, I expect EF to push it on the climbs, maybe Astana as well and Ineos will want to keep a tempo once the climbs arrive too.
