Very happy for Girmay, he's been getting so close to winning a stage and at last he's done it!

Also, for some reason I'm being reminded of Tiger Woods back when he was the only black player at the Masters, hopefully we'll be seeing more African (or black riders in general) soon.

Ewan is in a little over 31 minutes behind the winner. I think (not sure?) that's just inside the time limit. Even Kluge left him in the end (probably not risking being OTL himself). I don't see how he could be fit and this bad at the same time. Either that crash hurt him more than he thought or he's ill or something.

Was there anyone else back then who was (half) Asian?

Bad sportsmanship from Van der Poel to leave the gap so Girmay doesn't get 2s in GC.

Would he be considered black too in an American context, or primarily as Pacific Islander? Seems on par with Woods for diversity.
I don’t recall them referencing him that way
(As black). But would have been interesting if he had come on the scene before Woods rather than shortly after.

I'm not American, but I can't imagine how people who look like Vijay Singh, and with that name, will be referenced as black/African, or even Pacific Islanders (except for those who're familiar with Fiji ethnics make up)

After being the first guy from the 2000s to win a pro race is Bini also the first millennial to win a GT stage? I think it is.

"Oxford Living Dictionaries describes a millennial as "a person reaching young adulthood in the early 21st century." Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines millennial as "a person born in the 1980s or 1990s.""
