This Giro will join 2012 and 2014 in the list of most unremarkable Giros I've watched. And even 2014 had a moment like the Val Martello stage. Not even the Torino stage saves it.

It's not enough to throw 10km @ 9.x% climbs. It gives nice press but not nice racing.
Today isn't about having bad climbs. The last few days really suffers from no ITT. Also no MTT.

They could have Mortirolo here and they wouldn't have raced it.

Worst Giro we have seen in recent memory, GC riders either totally out of form, to chicken or abandon. Maybe , just maybe this GC would have been a little more exciting stuff going for it if Lopez would have been healthy.
I mean you had guys like is is around 40 years of age competing for GC deep into the race, a totally out of shape Carapaz that is a shadow of his old self.
Yates that started brilliantly to then inexplicable crashed (Physically) , the rest is average at best in form or quality. Really horrible.

No wonder that Pogacar wins the GC he competes in if this is the competition, No remarks on Roglic who is the only one that shows up regularly.

The way they dishonored the Mortirolo stage was an atrocity

Even if we get stage of the century tomorrow it'll still only be better than 2012 to me. This one is so high in frustration meter one reason or another for nearly all but 2 or 3 stages, a new record for me, and I don't think I'm that big of a complainer.

I think 2014 was a little better than this, unless something dramatic happens tomorrow.
2012 was definitely worse.

Not sure about 2012. Basso and liquigas were a little like Carapaz and Ineos, so it was interesting in a way to discover that Ivan didn't quite have it. I mean, if Richard had suddenly started to drop on Menador, that would have been some sort of entertainment, right? So I think part of the disdain with 2012 is that a majority wanted Basso to win. If he'd been 95% strong and won by a minute without any great attacks it might have been considered an average Giro. A lot of it is based on who the hero/villain is imo.

Landa has been at least trying to win in almost every grand tour he does. First dissapointment is today with no attack

The stupid thing of being a fan is you still watch, just maybe, maybe something will happen on the next stage, and then your met with total mediocracy again and again.
And you just cant complain that every route is badly planned, if they don't want to ride for it it doesn't matter what route you design.
Total *** of a race.
