Average speed of 39 km/h and the breakaway still managed to get caught with almost 30k to go. The Italian domestic teams are somehow still getting weaker with each passing year...

Seems quite reasonable to me when no others wanted to join them. Now they clocked some good km in the fuga competition and for the intermediate sprint competition with minimal effort.

Just tuned in to see if I could still catch the finish - perfect timing! Unfortunately, it looks like this has all the ingredients for a massive crash at the end. Let's hope we can avoid that!

Interesting that Jumbo are allowing their domestiques to attack. Disappointing that nobody was both capable and willing to join in, though.

Zabel will stay in blue?

Confirmed by the Danish commentator Thomas Bay that Zabel will stay in blue (if he doesn't lose time at the finish).

MVDP should have tried it with his teammate nowhere to be seen.

Lotto fail for the leadout with Ewan. Maybe not feeling too good after the crash.

Great sprint by Cavendish.

They gave Ballerini(?) a nice big open gap to sprint down at about 1.5 to go, their train was way down before then but Cavendish was fastest.

Cav is going to win every single sprint stage he, bar maybe one where Ewan actually is placed well.
