I don't know how Cav is still winning races but good on him. I thought MvdP should have tried for the win, looks like he thought about it but held himself back...

Morkov delivering Cav perfectly again and then everyone behind Cav decided to box themselves in. VDP needs to do these sprints himself too, Mareczko is meh.

Average speed of 39 km/h and the breakaway still managed to get caught with almost 30k to go. The Italian domestic teams are somehow still getting weaker with each passing year...
I honestly do like taking the piss on these flat stages.

Why would they not take cav to the tour? One win for him to go to 35 gets them more publicity than 5 wins from anyone else.

If it was Cav on Gaviria's left he'd be whining about getting cut up. And the English-Speaking media would be lapping it up.

But other than that, good show.

Lotto's train is a joke, Ewan deserved better. Ghirmay could have challenged Cav is he had find a gap but I find him more and more the favourite for ciclamino.

Gaviria was so slow that if the roles were reversed (and Cav was similarly slow), I don't think it'd bear mention.

Jakobsen is miles faster though and who you hopefully want to build around for years in your sprints. Pissing him off by not bringing him to the Tour isn't smart.
Is Patty bringing a GC hopeful to the TdF? If not, why not bring Jakobsen and Cav?

He’s the best sprinter who has ever lived and even in this late period of his career, if he’s healthy and has the best lead out and is up against a limited field, of course he can still win!

Israel have very obviously rushed him back too quickly after his injury. Relegation stress is getting to them.

I doubt Nizzolo didn't want to ride the Giro himself tho. He was probably behind the plan. He also just broke his hand right? He probably started riding indoors pretty fast after the crash. He was already pretty mediocre sprintspeed wise at the beginning of his season.

I agree this is about form tho. The guy has to sit down after 100m of sprinting.

Jakobsen consistently rides against easier fields than Cav.

But it's all whatever. It's a little sad when 2 of the 3 best sprinters are on one team and the third can't get himself into a sprinting position without taking himself out.

Morkov still the best lead-out rider. It was a nice job from the whole team. They timed it perfectly today. Even though Cav had to sprint from pretty far out.

Mareczko actually came with great speed in the end. He was just so far behind.

Looked like MVDP just didnt know. He might have tried it otherwhise.

Mareszcko will regret losing MVD's wheel or he could have just about won, while Ghirmay could never fully test his sprint - I suspect the sprints will be shared by a few.
