It is bad luck regardless because it is another injury keeping him from his goals, as has happened countless times the past 3 years.

Maybe he's just bad at not falling off? It happens, you know. I remember a few years ago during the Tour Merckx was co-commenting on RTBF with Beenkens. A rider crashes on a descent and Beenkens goes all "poor guy, he's really unlucky" and all that. Then Merckx says "you know there are brakes on bicycles? Of course, if you brake in the turn it's too late, you'll just go straight".

His knee injury keeping him from going to the Vualta had nothing to do with a crash. Him missing the Vuelta the next year because DSM is a sht team also had nothing to do with a crash. Him crashing in Liège because 50 guys in front of him crashed had nothing to do with him being bad at not falling off. Nor does Covid.

Schachmann another time with COVID and therefore out of national championship. One week before the tour. He had been in good form in Suisse and now this..
