2022 National Championships

Lafavare not taking Cavendish to the Tour was a mistake it seems.

Sénéchal might not be going either (French champion). Quick Step also didn't take Cavagna last year when he was national champion.

It's a bit of a shame to see national champs miss out on the Tour & Quick Step could have the French champion, British champion & world champion on their team next week, if they wanted.

The weirdest thing gonna be this:

Seems very much like a case of "We'll just have to agree between us", so why didn't Goldstein get it? He's going to the Tour? You'd think the Israeli team would want the Israeli jersey in the Tour?

If nothing else, the hype would be crazy. And hype means exposure for sponsors.
Agreed. The press alone would be huge. If you want to continue to expand the sport, especially for Anglophones in this case, he should be going. As far as the record, there is no one on the planet that thinks Cavendish is a greater rider than Merckx if he were to break the record for most stage wins. Does anyone think Cipolli is the greatest Giro rider because he has the most stage wins? That greasy dude could barely get to the end of a stage race. Like previously said, apples to oranges.

Einhorns UCI points will probably be important, the others won't be.

That was seriously impressive from Cav. He schooled 'em all.

Ethan Hayter's race was a bit odd. He looked to be riding easy all day, covering moves at will. But after Turner went he just...sat at the back of the chase group. I thought he might be saving energy to try to bridge solo. But no. And Turner wasn't strong enough to make the final 3. I get that you might not want to steal your teammate's thunder but 2 Ineos riders might have been able to drop Cav before the final sprint.

This so much.

We used to have manager competitions for the road races at FC, but startlists for these events are late/non-existing/untrustworthy. Plus punching these startlists in advance in a week where you have ITT and RR for JR/U23/Elite for both sexes in several ten handfuls of countries is just too much.

Not a gripe, just an explanation. Perhaps trying to do it for select countries can be tried for next year, just as long as we avoid guest country-furore :p

Oh, it's not really your responsibility... the organizers should give out better material, at least if the race is shown on tv there should be an interest. The German livestream today really was amateur's work again... it does have its charme... but only as long as you are mainly doing something else and not really trying to follow the race... :p Apparently the commentators had at least some information, like a starting list with numbers, so it was possible to put it online.
