Alaphillipe needs to sit down and park his ego after that fiasco of provoking a mini Roglstomp to take the bonus sprint followed by his teammates riding for him in the finale while he disappeared and finished around 50th on the day.

Fantastic performance from Mads P to back up the confidence from his team in working on the cat 3 climb and great to see Roglic do what he does best on these punchy finishes.

In the report, Bora says that they were pulling for Bennett to take points at the intermediate sprint, btw: "Our plan was to take points for Sam at the intermediate sprint. [...] Then our second goal was to bring our three GC riders safely to the finish."

This is also confirmed by Bennett in his race diary:

"Last night, our directeur sportif Bernie Eisel came into our room to chat about how we’d approach the stage [...]. In the end, we came to the conclusion that we’d concentrate on the intermediate sprint today and play it by ear after that. I started today 37 points clear of Mads Pedersen of Trek Segafredo in the points classification, but with a maximum of 45 points on offer today I knew I had to keep an eye on the Dane. The plan was to let a group up the road this morning, small enough in numbers to be able to control and bring back before the sprint, which came after 118km and in between the two climbs of the day."
