I don't care much about him, but the tone in your posts. You think you have the moral high ground and have more or less concluded with statements like "The level of contempt most sports fans have for athletes is truly nauseating". I find moralists like you far more naseating than sports fans who thinks this stage should have been ridden according to the original plan.

They also ended up running way behind schedule in the shortened stage of the 2020 Giro, not surprised whatsoever. Good to see that those riders who voted for scrapping GSB are facing at least some consequences, as they’ll be in their hotel later.

It's so stupid. A sport that lives on the reputation of being tough and is both dangerous and unhealthy by it's very nature shortens a stage because of rain.

I understand the riders, I completely get why they don't want to do this. But if we let them decide what kind of races they want to ride the sport will simply lose it's defining feature, that it's a brutal test of endurance. I hate to have this opinion. I'm all for more rights for the athletes in basically any sport. Better safety refulations in the NFL, athlete unions and improved rights for salary negotiations against billion dollar corporations. But this is the one big exception, because this isn't about the role of the athletes within the sport. It's about the foundations of the sport itself.

Vegni confirmed to RAI that idea of most of the riders was to do Gran San Bernardo and not do Croix de Coeur, going directly to Crans Montana.

He reached an agreement to not do san bernardo and instead do croix de coeur.
In the problem Vegni at least obtained the best compromise
