I can't believe we're over half way through this Giro and the only GC differences are from flat TTs and crashes. What happened to the Giro?

Now it really begins, it's just too bad half the GC contenders are out :(

I like Caruso and I'm sure that he'll show up.

It has been mentioned, 23 km of valley before the final climb give an AdH feel to this stage.

Thibaut Pinot will win this bike race. Mark my words...

On this stage both ascending and descending might reshuffle GC standings. Considering the weather won't be as bad as in the past few days hopefully no big crashes. On descends i feel that somebody like Caruso could take some initiative. When climbing i feel that riders like Almeida could try something. Not sure if Thomas will be prepared to go all in on this stage. To gain more time. Defending is likely plan A. Roglič will at minimum try to respond to possible attacks. If he will go all in. To take pink and gain more time. On descends i feel that riding could be more conservative. Not sure if the last climb is hard enough for big gains. But if this is the stage to take pink. Then if opportunity emerges to take some (serious) time. It makes sense to do it. Plan A likely is to not lose any time. And that should do. We'll see.

At least riders and fans will dream of Croix de Coeur tonight. Tomorrow is another day.

P.S. I doubt it will be canceled.

As if we are going to race at GT in Italy only for poor Swiss road quality to cause a reroute.
I thought it is usually the race organization that makes the decision about a section of a stage being rerouted or cancelled. But this is sounding like Swiss authorities would make the final decision?

Hoping for a good battle and the weather to be a little more compliant Sprinters will look at this profile and just sigh. Pinot needs points............

The route design this year, while solid, was never going to create race altering gaps early on. Combine that with the fact that we seem to be spinning a lottery wheel on what GC contender exits every day, that has made the Giro so far. However, I have an annual event tomorrow, and last year this event was on the same day at the Torino stage, so hopefully tomorrow can bring similar action!

The biggest excitement for the stage might well be if it goes ahead. I believe Ineos shall announce their new line of branded parkas, wooly hats and sou'westers for the stage. :D

As long as it's not snowing, there is no reason to cancel Croix de cœur.
There might be some rain :

But the first part of the descent is risky. The road is in a bad shape with loose chippings and streches without asphalt.
Expect crashes and punctures.

The GC favorites will probably wait until the last climb. It's long and hard enough to make a difference

This stage reminds me of passo di stelvio stage at the giro 2020.
Kuss will drop almost everybody on croix coeur with roglic on his wheel, like rohan dennis did.
Stelvio is longer and tougher with the top of the climb over 600m higher than Coeur. There was almost no flat between Stelvio and Lago di Canceno on that stage. At that was the last big mountain stage, not the first.

So, I will be very suprised if we see something similar today.
