Let's agree to disagree on this statistical distribution.
Anyway, this stages shows why it was a good thing for Remco (and especially his team) to give the jersey to a lesser (aka demi-) god Leknessund.
Jan Bakelants (ex-rider, now pundit) said in Belgian media that he didn't understand why Ineos was riding in the stage where Leknessund took the Maglia Rosa, but as Bakelants is no demi-god, I will explain, and it will be very clear today, in the most likely scenario:
If Ineos didn't ride some days ago, Leknessund would still have the jersey after today, as his buffer would have been big enough vs. Remco.
But because Ineos rode, and the gap was only about 30s to Remco, Remco will most likely take the jersey, even if unwillingly, as Leknessund will probably not be able to finish within half a minute.
So in the end, Ineos rode in order to get Remco back into the jersey as soon as possible, so he and his team have to undergo the pressure, attention and work in the coming days.
Jan Bakelants doesn't understand all of this, but I'm sure most of you here do.
