What is gained from excluding the entire world sans Oceania from the Oceanic Championships? I do wonder so myself.
I think the answer is obvious but I'll still take the bait.

If you let the rest of the world compete at the Oceania championship then no Oceanic rider would ever feature in the races. This event gives riders from the area something to target, which helps to develop the sport. Hopefully one day cycling will become bigger in Oceania, and thus more diverse overall.

Can you say anything of these things about the Euros?

An Oceanian rider has won the most recent World Tour race and another has come Second in the Vuelta just a week ago.
