Cattaneo actually has a quite consistent track record in longer TTs and i thought he could podium, but Affini, what a surprise!!!
A good career reward for two guys that are not champions, but great professionals that know how to do their job.
Still italian cycling is in dire straits

Affini seemed to take it easier in the Vuelta ITT on Sunday which could have made it different.
Affini used double disc wheels on Sunday, and (according to an interview with Campenaerts, who talked to him) didn't feel comfortable with it at all. So he probably didn't take it easy on purpose.

About Segaert, Campenaerts said that it was his own decision to do the U23 race. He really aims for the U23 rainbow jersey, and for some reason believes that doing the elite European Championships before would discredit that title.

A modest but decent turnout for the podium ceremony considering there were only six teams in the mixed relay, and it's raining. Cattaneo gets another podium though and this time it's gold! :)
European Championships often have the biggest discrepancy between crowd attendancy and actual interest from the frequent followers and riders priority.
Because obviously barely any athlete really cares but for the wider public the concept of a European Championship is a big thing.
I remember Munich two years ago had an insane crowd for what was essentially a flat sprint stage.
