If he has a guide wheel, Menchov can do ok. The second he loses that wheel? Forget about it, he's done for the day.
I remember the Bonette descent in '08. I don't get how one can get dropped in a situation like that.

What is the excuse this time Nairo worshipers?

The road surfaces were too rough?
Too much humidity?
The grass was too tall?
Bronchitis?
Hasn't raced enough?
Jet lag?
Too much sun?
Little sun?
Too much air?
Little air?

Hahaha

AC still doesn't look anywhere near as lean as he was at the start of the Tour last year. I think he's got some weight to lose. If he holds his power, he's going to be really flying at the Tour. That being said, I think a lot of the mountain stages are going to be basic draws--the differences will be made in the time trials, cobbled-stages or on descents. Should be a great Tour.

You coming around to Contador?

On a Contador - Quintana mano a mano, I'll root for Contador anyday!

The way you totally dodged my question, there's a career out there in cycling PR, Managment, or even Dsing if you want it.
I didn't understand it then, can you rephrase?
I asked if you had come around to Contador and you said you cheer for him vs Quintana which sounds like you were dodging the question. just messing with you though, its not important.

"Quintana loooked the strongest" Who is that dumbass next to kirby?

He didn't do anything, contador lead the whole climb
we dont know who was the strongest, but Alberto is certainly more dangerous ;)

If Contador is the only one attacking and quintana just follows without attempting to attack. And then gets dropped in the descent, then yea contador was the strongest.

It's not that quintana had a lead that could afford him to wheelsuck, or he didn't want to show his hand. But i doubt that, he doesn't seem that kinda guy.

Hitch, what does coming around to Contador mean so I can answer you properly.
IIRC you hated him so I'm asking if you hate him less now because of style, or some such.

Well, he'll need to be lean enough to follow Froome and Quintana in the mountains.

The commentator (not sure if Carlton or Bryan) kept repeating Quintana "must still be shaky" after he crashed out on a descent last year. Did he forget Alberto crashed out on a descent too?

Quintana is going to need Valverde's descending talents at the Tour.

well, he sure has valverde's wheelsucking "talents" down pat!

He just learned from the master, that is all!
Levi Leipheimer and Simon Gerrans are both in a complete other league to Alejandro Valverde when it comes to wheelsucking. Valverde will be very aggressive in smaller races then retreat into his shell in the big ones (actually the opposite of what Quintana seems to do!!!), they'd be sucking wheels to win (in the TT and sprint respectively) the Tour of a Car Park in Emptytown, Alabama.

Great race from Figueiredo as well! Will keep an eye on him in Torres Vedras ahead of the Volta...

I guess I just learnt not to lose my hair over it. Still think he should do classics.

But yeah, maybe I hate him less now, I dunno. A year ago I'd probably want both him and Quintana to lose.

Bot of a damp squib, adverts during the only bit of action, when Contador distanced Quintana on the descent, both of them looked effortless in dropping everyone else bar LaTour who was by far the ride of the day.
